Bernd M. Weiss, PhD
Managing Partner
Bernd is co-founder and managing partner of Astromerge, a US-based advisory firm that supports a select clientele in gaining access to space projects. He is a researcher and practitioner in industrial transformation and the circular space economy, with more than 25 years of experience in technology management, IT operations, and strategy consulting.
Bernd holds a PhD from Luleå University of Technology, where his research on Design for Spacecraft Reuse examined how circular economy principles can be applied in orbit: the design implications, regulatory incentives, technology requirements and business models behind reusing spacecraft hardware instead of disposing of it.
He is active in the Ecosystems2030 innovation think-tank and has launched a number of space and non-space initiatives and startups, including the Alliance for a Sustainable Future in Space and the Space Career and Leadership Center. He mentors the future space workforce, entrepreneurs and business owners, and is a strong advocate for multidisciplinary ecosystems, cultural exchange and cross-industry innovation.
Focus at Astromerge: Design for Spacecraft Reuse and circular economy advisory, regulatory and policy analysis, industrial transformation, and supply chain resilience for U.S. space, defense and manufacturing companies.
